I focus on elevating the unique details of each dish, while bringing the viewer into in the image through color, styling, and technical choices.
From the initial idea to the final delivery, I work collaboratively with the client and author to get a clear sense of their vision and purpose for the project. I align the overall creative direction with the artistic and functional goals to create images that are eye-catching and emotive, designed to boldly share your vision and connect with your audience.
As a cookbook photographer, I align the overall visual style of the book with the author and publisher's creative vision through technical and stylistic choices. I work with a food stylist and prop stylist to bring the book to life in the most efficient way possible.
I have a photography studio on 29 acres of forest in the Columbia River Gorge, equipped with a beautiful large kitchen, veggie garden, and home for shooting lifestyle scenes, both indoor and outdoor. I am also available to shoot on-location.
MY APPROACH
My studio and home are located on 29 acres of land in the Columbia River Gorge, which creates a unique opportunity for a variety of both indoor and outdoor shooting locations for cookbook photography and commercial food and beverage photography.
The photography studio is prepped for both artificial and natural light shoots and is fully stocked with a wide variety of props, ceramics, glassware, and shooting surfaces for every visual style.
The house is fully equipped with a large light-filled kitchen, fireplace, dining area, spacious bathroom with clawfoot tub, and large bedrooms with views of the mountains and river for a variety of lifestyle shoots. Food equipment includes a large sub-zero refrigerator, two ovens, a broiler, 5-burner cooktop, two stand-alone freezers, and a cold storage room.
The outdoor spaces include a large thriving veggie garden, wildflower meadow, fire pit with river views, cedar barrel sauna, seasonal streams, grassy meadows, and forest landscapes, all with views of the scenic Columbia River Gorge. There is also private lodging onsite for authors/staff.
I am also available to shoot on location.
